New Work Miami 2010, conceived as an exuberant salute to Miami’s artistic community, will provide a partial snapshot of the Miami art scene at this moment. Approximately 35 artists based in the Miami area will present new and recent artworks executed in a variety of media including painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, video, environmental installation and performance. The bulk of the exhibition will be presented in Miami Art Museum’s recently unified 5,000 sq. ft. Plaza Level Gallery, with numerous performances, events and screenings to be presented throughout the exhibition’s run.

In conjunction with the opening of an exhibition of works by Henri Matisse at the new Tampa Museum of Art, Bleu Acier presents works by Neil Bender, Elisabeth Condon, Herve DiRosa, Dominique Labauvie, Frederique Lucien, Pierre Mabille, Philippe Richard, Peter Soriano, Michelle Weinberg, Voshardt/Humphrey. The Library’s Permanent Art Collection focuses on works on paper, photographs, and artists’ books, multiples, and publications. Much of the work references language, literature, or Miami life and history. This exhibition highlights new additions to the collection from 2006 to the present, including work by Christian Marclay, Gary Moore, Mickey Smith, Tauba Auerbach, Julieta Aranda, Michelle Weinberg, and many others.

On view through January 2010 in American Airlines Terminal E, Free-Arranger is a group exhibition with works by Dimitry Said Chamy, Theresa Hackett, Judith Robertson, Michelle Weinberg and Elizabeth Wild. Grab the brochure here: FreeArrangerExhibit.

Short Novel, Surprise Ending, 2009 gouache on paper, 8 1/2" x 61/2"

New works were created and exhibited in Brusand, Norway, at Nordisk kunst Plattform, a unique and original alternative space run by artistic/curatorial team Elizabeth Croft and Jan Kjetil Bjorheim. The workspace is a disused train station building, each room papered in a patterned vintage wallpaper. Travel was supported by an Artist Access Grant from Tigertail Productions in Miami.
